Launch of the Chiropractic Research Partnership

The Australian Spinal Research Foundation launched the Chiropractic Research Partnership at  Parker Seminars Sydney in mid June in recognition of the need for more research, faster.

Dr Martin Harvey (Chiropractor), President of the Foundation made the launch presentation from the Parker Seminars stage with many of the delegates joining the Partnership as an immediate consequence.

This presentation which is similar to that delivered from the Parker stage is a well reasoned, thought provoking 10 minutes, highlighting the areas in which the chiropractic profession is under threat, the importance of more research, faster to the profession’s future and the role of the Chiropractic Research Partnership in facilitating the research and how you can contribute to your profession by becoming a Partner.

The presentation is an easy watch and well worth your focused consideration for a few minutes.

What is the Clinical Advisory Panel (CAP)?

The Foundation’s Clinical Advisory Panel is one of the most critical aspects of our research process because it is what keeps our research relevant and focused on the chiropractic paradigm.

We need the best minds in chiropractic on CAP to ensure that the research that is most relevant to the paradigm is prioritised.

The panel is part of our process that creates the intersection of philosophy with science. The job of the CAP members is to review grant applications and assess them for their relevance to our priorities and make suggestions as to how they would be more relevant to chiropractic and practicing chiropractors.

There are two main periods of activity for CAP - the first in late May where members assess Expressions of Interest applications from researchers. The second period of activity is in early August when the CAP assess a smaller number of full research grant applications (these are quite long and involve a lot of information about research methodology, literature review etc).

The role of members of CAP in reviewing these full grant applications and commenting in relation to chiropractic relevance is of critical value to the Foundation. It is through these valuable processes that the Foundation maintains its alignment and recognition with the profession’s research needs, hopes and aspirations.

The Foundation is pleased to announce the Clinical Advisory Panel members for 2011 as follows –

Dr Liz Anderson-Peacock – Ontario, Canada
Dr David Cahill – Melbourne, Australia
