Chiropractic assistant: a receptionist and/or wellness facilitator?
Jenny Jamison has been involved in chiropractic education for over 25 years. She is currently employed as the Wellness Advisor to the CAA and is an Adjunct Professor at Murdoch University. She has over 200 papers in peer reviewed journals and has written 7 text books. Australian health care is in crises.
The Australian Government believes one solution is to emphasize health rather than disease care. Chiropractic, with its wellness ethos, is well positioned to inform about and encourage patients to adopt a healthy lifestyle. However, for this wellness initiative to succeed, chiropractors are going to need help from their CAs. These changes imply a shift in the role for CAs. How may these changes affect the work of CAs? Is a whole new career pathway opening up for CAs interested in expanding their horizons? What lies ahead for CAs whose chiropractors decide to become 'healthy life doctors'?
